Naomi Osaka pulls out of Hong Kong Open with back injury

first_imgThe reigning US Open champion Naomi Osaka pulled out of the Hong Kong Open, starting on Monday, citing a back injury after he loss in the semi-final of China Open 2018.20-year-old Osaka stunned Serena Williams in the final of US Open in August to win her maiden Grand Slam title. Since then, Osaka has reached the final of Pan Pacific Open, where she lost to Karolina Pliskova, and then the semi-final of China Open.On Saturday, eighth seed Osaka lost 4-6, 4-6 to Latvia’s Anastasija Sevastova to crash out of the tournament.Sevastova edged a tight first set with a solitary break as Osaka’s game showed signs of falling apart.
