EPL: Bournemouth in Red Devils den

first_imgRelatedPosts Ighalo: My best moment as ‘Red Devil’ EPL: Crystal Palace stun sloppy Man U EPL: Red Devils attack Palace Man U vs. Bournemouth Venue: Old Trafford Kick off: 3PMRelegation-threatened Bournemouth make the long journey to Old Trafford today to face a Manchester United side on the brink of breaking into the Premier League’s top four. Bournemouth lie 19th in the table on 27 points – one adrift of safety – whereas United are two behind fourth-placed Chelsea, having amassed 52 points from 32 matches.Having gone into the coronavirus-enforced shutdown off the back of a stellar run of form, questions were naturally raised as to whether Man United would have been able to keep that momentum going after a three-month break.Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men have answered those questions in perfect fashion and have now gone 15 games unbeaten in all competitions, and the Red Devils will be aiming to win their fourth game on the bounce when they play host to an out-of-sorts Bournemouth side this afternoon.United built on their FA Cup quarter-final success over Norwich City with a dominant 3-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion in midweek, with Bruno Fernandes bagging a brace after Mason Greenwood broke the deadlock on the South Coast.Furthermore, Solskjaer’s men look well on their way to making Old Trafford the fortress it once was in the days of Sir Alex Ferguson – United have gone five games without conceding on home soil and have notched up 13 goals in their last four home outings. With Chelsea and Leicester City both suffering defeats last time out, the United faithful will certainly feel that their side are capable of a top-four finish for only the third time in seven seasons, although their current fifth-placed standing may prove to be enough for a Champions League berth should Manchester City’s European ban be upheld. In contrast, Bournemouth have shown little signs of revival since the English top flight resumed, and the Cherries were condemned to their fourth defeat in a row as Newcastle United revelled in a 4-1 victory at the Vitality Stadium on Wednesday.Eddie Howe was without his top scorer Callum Wilson, but even if the Englishman had featured in this fixture it would have made little difference as Bournemouth’s defensive frailties were exposed once again. The Cherries are now winless in seven since their 2-1 victory over fellow strugglers Aston Villa at the start of February, and they have lost six of their last seven fixtures in the Premier League – the outlier being a 2-2 draw with Chelsea at the Vitality. In fact, Frank Lampard’s side were the last team that Bournemouth managed to triumph against away from home, with the Cherries currently on a seven-game losing streak on their travels, and Howe’s men have only amassed 13 points on the road all season. However, Bournemouth did manage to record a 1-0 victory over Solskjaer’s side when the sides locked horns in the reverse fixture, with former United protege Joshua King netting the only goal of the game back in November.Man U possible XI: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw, Pogba, Matic, Greenwood, Fernandes, Rashford, Martial. Bournemouth possible XI: Ramsdale, Stacey, Mepham, Ake, Smith, Brooks, L. Cook, Lerma, Gosling, Stanislas, King.Tags: AFC BournemouthManchester UnitedOld TraffordPremier Leaguelast_img read more

Unconcerned Conte puts ball in Chelsea’s court

first_imgChelsea manager Antonio ConteLondon, United Kingdom | AFP | Chelsea manager Antonio Conte said he will lose no sleep over the threat he could be sacked less than a year after winning the Premier League following a 4-1 thrashing at Watford on Monday. The champions have now conceded seven goals in their last two outings after also going down 3-0 at home to Bournemouth last week to put their chances of Champions League qualification for next season in serious peril.“Tomorrow is another day. I can be the Chelsea coach or not, what is the problem?” said Conte. “I go to sleep without a problem.“I try to do everything and, if this is enough ok, otherwise the club take a different decision. The life goes on.”Defeat leaves Chelsea still lagging in fourth and just a point ahead of fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur in the battle for the top four.Conte has repeatedly complained throughout the campaign at his lack of input towards the club’s recruitment strategy.Once more the Italian lined up without a recognised striker at Vicarage Road with Alvaro Morata sidelined by injury and new-signing Olivier Giroud deemed fit enough only for a place on the bench. However, Conte also delivered some stinging criticism to his players, who he said “played with fear”.“I try to continue to work to try to improve different aspects of my players, but today I think our performance was very poor,” added Conte.“For sure I have to take the responsibility because maybe I made the wrong decision for the starting XI.“To play football in a big club it means you must have personality. It is simple to play when there is the confidence.“In this type of moment you can see who is (made) for a great club, to play with personality to risk something.” – ‘A loser finds excuses’ –Chelsea’s task wasn’t made any easier when Tiemoue Bakayoko was sent-off after just half an hour for two quickfire bookable offences.Troy Deeney’s penalty put the hosts in front just before the break, but Chelsea were offered a lifeline eight minutes from time by a brilliant 25-yard strike from Eden Hazard. And Conte was particularly annoyed with his side’s reaction in the closing stages as they conceded three times in the final six minutes to Daryl Janmaat, Gerard Deulofeu and Roberto Pereyra.“In the second-half I saw great will and desire, but a lot of confusion. We were able to draw and I think in that moment we must be good to manage the situation, to understand the moment.“A great team must do this, instead in 10 minutes we concede three goals.”Conte also refused to accept injuries and fatigue are the reason for the stark difference in Chelsea’s performances in results from his first season where they didn’t have the distraction of European football.“For sure it is a difficult moment and if we want to find excuses or alibis always we can find everything,” added Conte.“This is not my way to face the situation to solve the problem.“The winner finds a solution, the loser finds excuses. In my life I like to be a winner and I am a winner.”Share on: WhatsApplast_img read more

Pretending to Be a Salesperson

first_imgYou can’t love part of sales. It is all or nothing. You want to be a salesperson, you just don’t want to have to prospect. You don’t want to interrupt people, and you don’t like bothering them. If you don’t like prospecting, you don’t like selling. Selling requires that you create new opportunities, and prospecting is how you do that work. You want to a be a salesperson, but you only want to sell something that your prospective clients really want. You only want to sell to people who are already trying to buy what you sell. This belief makes you an order-taker, not a salesperson. There is a lot of talk about salespeople being replaced by technology in the future, and the people in sales who suffer from this belief will be the first to be replaced. You want to be a salesperson, but you don’t want to have to ask people to make commitments. You want them to tell you they’re ready to take the next step. Selling is conversations about the future, creating a preference for you and your solution, and it is most definitely about gaining commitments. There is no waiting in sales, least of all waiting for your dream client to ask if you are ready for them to buy.You want to be a salesperson, but you want to communicate with people over email because you am more comfortable when you have time to carefully consider every word, making every communication just right. Email is a necessary but inferior medium when it comes to selling. It doesn’t allow for the kind of communication necessary to sell, including collaboration, building consensus, and resolving concerns. If you want to be a salesperson, you’re going have to engage in more effective mediums. You want to be a salesperson, but you don’t want to deal with the big issues that prevent your prospective clients from generating the results they need. You don’t want to deal with all their problems. If you don’t like dealing with conflict, you aren’t going to love being a salesperson. Selling comes with a certain amount of healthy conflict. If you don’t want to manage problems, challenges, and conflicts, you aren’t in sales. You want to be a salesperson, but only if you can do the consulting part without having any responsibility to sell what your company sells. If you want to give your advice without having to deliver results, start an advice column. You never have to sell anyone anything that won’t serve them, but you also don’t need to spend time advising people who can’t or won’t buy what you sell.last_img read more
